The best biscuit dunker in Britain has been found â and itâs a creative designer from North London.<br/><br/>Simon Girma won the inaugural National Dunking Championship at Underbelly Boulevard in Soho, London.<br/><br/>The tea and biscuit lover, aged 35, entered the McVitie's tournament which challenged eight contestants to compete in a âdunk offâ.<br/><br/>They submerge their biscuit in a hot beverage for the longest duration possible without it breaking â with one point awarded for every second it was submerged.<br/><br/>Upon removing the biscuit, it must remain intact without breaking â failing this, the participant loses the round.<br/><br/>The person with the most points after three dunk offs wins, and goes on to the next round, under the watchful eye of biscuit experts.<br/><br/>Each round features a different biscuit, challenging contestants' knowledge of each oneâs dunking characteristics.<br/><br/>Simon was crowned victorious after a series of intense dunk off rounds â where he played a Digestive, Rich Tea, Chocolate Hobnob and Gingernut â including a sudden death tie breaker.<br/><br/>In the final, both Simon and his opponent Bruno got 58 points over three rounds â and as a result, they went on to a tie break round, with Simon scoring 25 to Brunoâs 23 points.<br/><br/>And the biscuit that delivered the winning dunk? The Chocolate Hobnob, beloved of dunkers around the world.<br/><br/>Of his win, Simon said: âIâm so proud to be the winner of the first ever McVitieâs Dunking Championship.<br/><br/>âIt was an amazing competition â credit to all the other contestants who were worthy opponents, but I knew my extensive dunk training regime would come good.<br/><br/>âHaving a slow and steady hand, and lots of practicing with a variety of biscuits so you know each one well.â<br/><br/>âIt just goes to show that having a biscuit with my tea has finally paid off.<br/><br/>A panel of judges â led by the biscuit makers chief dunking officer Dr Helen Pilcher - oversaw gameplay.<br/><br/>One of the standout moments of the championship was the Jaffa Cake round â a less common dunk choice, and one which flummoxed players thanks to its unique sponge-like texture.<br/><br/>The Rich Tea round also proved perilous, as contestants worked to keep their nerve and avoid a dunking disaster.<br/><br/>Research conducted by Dr Pilcher found a Hobnob can withstand 12.5 seconds of dunking - depending on hot drink temperature.<br/><br/>Whereas the âdunking danger zoneâ of a Rich Tea kicks in at 8.8 seconds â deeming it a higher risk biscuit.<br/><br/>Dr Pilcher said: âBeing the judge of the National Dunking Championship felt like the perfect evolution of my role as chief dunking officer.<br/><br/>âThe contestants were all amazing and had brilliant biscuit knowledge.<br/><br/>âAs a dunking enthusiast myself, it was extremely rewarding to see my dunking research put into practice and brought to life in such a unique way.â")

A proposed ÂŖ80million summer move to Manchester City has already collapsed.<br/><br/>In one precedent, the former Reading defender Kynan Isaac was given a career-ending 10-year ban from football after deliberately getting booked playing for non-league Stratford Town against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup three years ago.<br/><br/>INCIDENT ONE: November 12, 2022; 60th minute, West Ham 0-2 Leicester City<br/><br/>The first of the four came just before the mid-season break for the Qatar World Cup in November 2022.<br/><br/>As Leicester's Boubakary Soumare breaks into the West Ham half, Paqueta chases back and lunges into him from behind.<br/><br/>Play initially continued but when Soumare remained down on the turf, referee Jarred Gillett blew his whistle and brandished a yellow card, with Paqueta keeping his head bowed as he accepted the punishment.<br/><br/>INCIDENT TWO: March 12, 2023; 70th minute, West Ham 1-1 Aston Villa<br/><br/>The second came in another Premier League game at the London Stadium later that season.<br/><br/>Villa's John McGinn crosses the halfway line and tries to get between Paqueta and Danny Ings. The Brazilian brings him down in the center circle right in front of referee Chris Kavanagh.<br/><br/>Play is halted immediately and the yellow card produced with McGinn far from happy at the tackle.<br/><br/>INCIDENT THREE: May 21, 2023; 65th minute, West Ham 3-1 Leeds United<br/><br/>The third moment is right towards the end of the 2022-23 campaign.<br/><br/>After Leeds cleared a West Ham set-piece with the scores locked at 1-1, Paqueta prevents Crysencio Summerville from breaking away with a trip.<br/><br/>Referee Peter Bankes has little hesitation in showing a yellow card.<br/><br/>INCIDENT FOUR: August 12, 2023; 93rd minute, Bournemouth 1-1 West Ham<br/><br/>The final incident occurred on the opening day of the season just finishing.<br/><br/>From a goal kick, Paqueta jumps for an aerial challenge just inside the Bournemouth half and handles the ball.<br/><br/>The referee is again Bankes, who isn't too far away, and issues the booking.<br/><br/>Paqueta has co-operated with the FA throughout since they launched their investigation last August, handing in his phone and being interviewed on several occasions last autumn, but hit out at the governing body after being charged on Thursday.")
