MTV Movie and TV Awards put on hold until 2025. The award show took place consistently from 1992 until 2019 before being halted in 2020 by the Covid-19 pandemic. The ceremony then returned the following two years but was once again put on hold in 2023 due to the Writers Guild of America strike, which started just five days prior. An MTV spokesperson reports that the award show will return in 2025 in a new and reimagined format. Filmmaker Roger Corman dies at 98. Often referred to as 'The King of Bs,' Corman worked on hundreds of films over a seven-decade timespan including The Little Shop of Horrors , Black Scorpion , and Bloody Mama . He helped jumpstart careers and served as a mentor to many of today's most notable directors including James Cameron, Martin Scorsese, and Robert De Niro. Corman passed on May 9 in his California home as revealed by his family on social media. Lea Michele reveals she is expecting her first daughter. The actress/singer celebrated Mother's Day on social media by revealing the sex of her baby. Michele posted a photo of her bump on Instagram writing 'The most beautiful Mother's Day today, holding my son who made me a mama...and carrying my daughter.' In today's birthday news: actor Harvey Keitel turns 85, musician Stevie Wonder 74, former NBA player Dennis Rodman 63, comedian Stephen Colbert 60, singer Darius Rucker 58, and actor Robert Pattinson 38.

Thompson was the last surviving member of the band and the only one to see their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which took place just weeks ago. The drummer reportedly suffered a heart attack back in April and was in the recovery process. Jon Stewart to host The Weekly Show podcast with Comedy Central. Stewart currently appears on the network once a week to host The Daily Show on Monday nights, which he led full time for 16 years before his departure in 2015. He is also currently signed on as an Executive Producer for the late night talk show. The new podcast is set to premiere in June and will air on all major podcast platforms. _otd-in-space-may-13-apollo-spacecraft-launches-for-abort-test.webp "On May 13, 1964, NASA launched the second abort test of the Apollo spacecraft.<br/><br/>This uncrewed mission would demonstrate that the launch escape system could safely eject the Apollo command module in case of an emergency. For the first test, the command module ejected just above the launchpad 15 seconds after liftoff. But the second time it stayed on top of the rocket for 44 seconds. It reached an altitude of almost 30,000 feet, which was six times higher than it went during the first test. By doing the test later in the flight, NASA was checking to see if the escape system worked well under high dynamic pressure. In other words, the rocket was under more mechanical stress because of the aerodynamics of its flight. It lifted off on a Little Joe II rocket from the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, and the abort test went mostly according to plan. The Command Module did bump in to the booster after they separated, and that damaged one of its parachutes. Thankfully it had two more parachutes, but the landing was still pretty rough.")
