Poorva Rangam was the dance with which I opened my first evening solo performance in Kuchipudi, my Rangapravesam in Munich’s Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus 29 years ago today.nnI was incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to learn Kuchipudi from my teacher Ranga Vivekananda in a very traditional set up- unusual in Munich. At that time I knew nothing about the form, it’s language, it’s history, philosophy or politics of classical Indian dance. I just wanted to dance. nnIn terms
