Apple TV+ unveiled the trailer for its new sci-fi thriller “Dark Matter” starring Joel Edgerton alongside Academy Award® winner Jennifer Connelly, Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi and Oakes Fegley. Based on the blockbuster book by New York Times bestselling author Blake Crouch, the new, nine-episode Apple Original series will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Wednesday, May 8, on Apple TV+, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through June 26, 2024. <br/><br/>Hailed as one of the best sci-fi novels of the decade, “Dark Matter” is a story about the road not taken. The series will follow Jason Dessen (played by Edgerton), a physicist, professor, and family man who — one night while walking home on the streets of Chicago — is abducted into an alternate version of his life. _young-girl-dies-and-two-women-injured-after-being-hit-by-car-in-birmingham.webp "A young girl has died and two women injured after a car ploughed into them on a residential street in Birmingham. <br/><br/>Emergency services rushed to Upper Highgate Street, in the Highgate area of the city, after four pedestrians were mown down at 9.45pm yesterday (Sun).<br/><br/>Paramedics battled to save the child but she was confirmed dead at the scene while two women were taken to hospital with serious injuries.<br/><br/>A second child was also assessed by ambulance crews but did not require any further treatment. <br/><br/>West Midlands Ambulance Service said three ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and two critical care paramedics were sent to the scene.<br/><br/>A service spokeswoman said: “On arrival, crews found a car and four pedestrians had been involved in a collision.<br/><br/>“A child, female, was in a critical condition and ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support.<br/><br/>“Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, she could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.<br/><br/>“Two women were treated by medics for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries and were conveyed on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.<br/><br/>“A fourth patient, a child, was assessed by ambulance crews but was not injured and so was discharged at the scene.”")
