Description: Modelled after letter DB-1308 in the Brienne Collection, Sound & Vision, with permission. nnThis letter was written by the Dutch naval commander Adriaan Boreel, who distinguished himself during the War of the Spanish Succession (1701–1713). In 1703 he was escorting a convoy of merchant ships from Portugal back to Holland when he encountered French enemy ships.
