Description: Salomé was produced for film by Russian actress Alla Nazimova, who also starred in the leading role, in 1923. It was directed by Charles Bryant and is considered by many modern film critics to be the world's first art film. Based on the stage play of the same name by author Oscar Wilde, no other adaptations have been made except for Salomé's Last Dance (1988) by the late British director Ken Russell.
