This video was filmed at Lachandèl nightclub in Gonayiv on October 31-November 1st. The nightclub featured Vodouist and folkloric dances by local dance troupes. This performance seems to mimic the Petwo rite with the clacking of the whip at the beginning. After various dance routines, a potomitan (centerpost) is encircled and serves as a kind of maypole around which the dancers weave strands of fabric. This film beautifully illustrates the influence of Vodou culture outside of the Vodou temple
