_britains-early-risers-complete-an-average-of-six-tasks-before-7am.webp "Britain’s early risers complete an average of six tasks before 7am – including workouts, meditation and vacuuming.<br/><br/>Nearly half (45 per cent) of Brits describe themselves as a 'morning person' and 56 per cent of them don't even need to set an alarm. <br/><br/>This early start is often due to having so much to fit in – from walking the dog, making breakfast and getting the kids ready for school.<br/><br/>But of the night owls, 33 per cent struggle to wake up when their alarm goes off and half of Brits (46 per cent) wish they were better in the mornings.<br/><br/>The research was carried out by Alpro, which has expanded its range of Plant Protein with soya drinks and alternatives to yoghurts.<br/><br/>To put the nation’s early rising habits to the test, footballing legend Peter Crouch partnered with the plant-based brand and took on an extreme morning routine from ice baths to multiple gym sessions.<br/><br/>The study also found 64 per cent who want to improve their morning rituals wish they had more energy, while 36 per cent would like to get more exercise in.<br/><br/>Of those who enjoy morning time, 25 per cent do so because they can get lots done and 21 per cent said everything feels quiet and still.<br/><br/>However, more than a third of all respondents (36 per cent) said they struggle to find a tasty breakfast that suits their routine and sets them up for the day.<br/><br/>With toast (30 per cent), cereal with dairy milk (29 per cent) and a cup of tea (26 per cent) the go-to breakfasts to have.<br/><br/>Interestingly, almost half (45 per cent) don’t think their current breakfast choice includes a lot of protein, but 25 per cent would be interested in eating more protein-rich meals.<br/><br/>But of those who took part in the study by OnePoll.com, 47 per cent are unsure of the daily recommended amount.<br/><br/>A spokesperson for Alpro, which has partnered with nutritionist, Jenna Hope, to create quick and easy breakfast recipes with plant protein (https://go.alpro.com/uk/protein), said: “We believe everyone deserves to start the day with a healthy, tasty and nutritious breakfast.<br/> <br/>“Our research found that a staggering majority of the nation believes protein is an important addition to their diets, we have seen a lack of plant protein options at breakfast time. <br/> <br/>“We want to make protein more accessible to consumers and provide new ways to enjoy fuss-free breakfast products for any morning routine – no matter what it looks like.” <br/><br/>TASKS BRITS COMPLETE BEFORE 7AM:<br/><br/>1. ![The African Queen is a 1935 novel written by English author C. S. Forester. It was adapted into the 1951 film of the same name.<br/><br/>The story opens in August/September 1914. Rose Sayer, a 33-year-old Englishwoman, is the companion and housekeeper of her brother Samuel, an Anglican missionary in German East Africa (present-day Tanzania). World War I has recently begun, and the German military commander of the area has conscripted all the natives; the village is deserted, and only Rose and her dying brother remain. Samuel dies during the night and Rose is alone. That day, another man arrives at the village: this is an English Cockney named Allnutt, who is the mechanic and skipper of the African Queen, a steam-powered launch, owned by a Belgian mining corporation, that plies the upper reaches of the Ulanga River. Allnutt's two-man crew has deserted him at the rumours of war and conscription. Allnutt buries Samuel Sayer and takes Rose back to the African Queen, where they consider what they should do.<br/><br/>The African Queen is well-stocked with tinned food, and carries a cargo of two hundredweight of blasting gelignite. It also holds two large tanks of oxygen and hydrogen. Rose is inflamed with patriotism, and also filled with the desire to avenge the insults the Germans piled on her brother. It occurs to her that the main German defence against a British attack by water is the gunboat Königin Luise, which guards the fictional Lake Wittelsbach[1] into which the Ulanga feeds. She asks Allnutt if he can make the gelignite into a makeshift torpedo. Allnutt replies that that is not possible, but after some thought, he concludes that by loading the gelignite inside the emptied tanks, putting the tanks into the bow of the launch, and rigging a detonator, they could turn the African Queen itself into a sort of large torpedo. Allnutt is inclined to laugh off the idea, but he gives in to Rose's greater strength of will and the two of them set off down the Ulanga, Rose steering and Allnutt maintaining the launch's ancient, balky, wood-burning steam engine.<br/><br/>The descent to the lake poses three main problems: passing the German-held town of Shona; passing the heavy rapids and cataracts; and getting through the river delta.
