However, the United States used its veto power to reject the proposal for Palestine to become a permanent member of the United Nations. This rejection made the Security Council fail to recommend that the United Nations General Assembly hold a vote for all member states to allow Palestine to join as a full member. So what is the reason why the United States rejects Palestine's full membership in the United Nations?<br/><br/>United States Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood said the use of the veto power did not reflect rejection of a Palestinian state.
